Things That Will Get You a Bad Rating in Your Next Careem or Uber Ride

If you don’t have a car, if you’re sick of being scammed every time you use a white taxi, and if you’re just fed up with Egypt’s horrible traffic, then using Careem or Uber is definitely a big part of your 9 to 5 life. By now, you’ve probably mastered how to deal with all kinds of drivers. However, have you mastered how to make sure to keep your actual rating lit? Below are a few steps you can do to guarantee that your driver’s experience is just as good as yours.

Greet Your Captain

Something that is very basic, and yet people tend to forget, is greeting your driver. They say you never get a second chance for a first impression, and a genuine and sincere greeting is the perfect kickoff for a 5-star ride.

Don’t Mess with Their Car

From the driver’s perspective, their car is their temple, and messing with it is practically blasphemous. Don’t clean off your dirty shoes inside; don’t keep on opening and shutting your window, and don’t keep on changing the AC’s fan direction. We’re not saying all of the above are not your legitimate rights, but you and I both know that there’s a certain limit.

Adapt to Survive

In the first couple of minutes of your trip, you’ll get a general idea regarding your driver. If they’re the talkative kind, prefer silence, wants you to do a duet karaoke together and eventually form a band. Learn to adapt to their behavior as they will probably do the same.

To GPS or Not to GPS

For some mysterious reason, drivers tend to ask for directions, and thrust upon you the oh-so classic question of “Do you know the way, or should I use the GPS?” You see this sparkle in their eyes, the hopes of you saying “YES! I KNOW THE WAY”, and they smile when you say so. Usually, all of us would rather sit back and not give a damn about which street to take, or going for the first U-turn or the second, but life is not fair, and you can’t have it all (even if you’re paying for it).

Tips

We live in a world where money talks; that’s for certain. If you tip, you get a better rating. Captains appreciate if you tip them, especially that it has become a more societal and cultural thing between us Egyptians.
