During the fifth edition of the Ahmed Fouad Negm Award, which was initially founded by business mogul Naguib Sawiris to support poets who write in informal Arabic language, he publicized his will to commemorate Ahmed Fouad Negm’s house into a museum; in remembrance of Negm’s amazing work.

Negm, aka the poet of the people, was an icon among many Egyptian poets. He was known for his politically-oriented poems, that spoke the voice of the unheard working class. He was a revolutionist at heart who was born to challenge the authority, but this got him in jail for quite some time. According to Ahram Online, Sawiris said, “I hope his friends help me gather Negm’s collectibles.”
