According to Egypt Today, Khaled Anany, the Egyptian Minister of Antiques, stated that the Ministry received an international grant of €3 million to develop the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square.
The implementation of the development plan is said to be overseen by the Ministry and an association of directors from five European museums: the Louvre Museum in Paris, The Egyptian Museum of Berlin, Turin’s Egyptian Museum, Egyptian Museum in Italy and the London’s British Museum.
To kick off the development plan, Ilham Saladin, the Head of the museum Department, brought together an exhibition titled ‘Rediscovering The Dead’ which took place on January 10 and is said to run till the end of January.
The Egyptian Museum houses the largest collection of ancient Egyptian antiques in the world, displaying approximately 120,000 artifacts.
