Egypt will stop importing petroleum products, diesel in specific, within two years. This decision was taken after noticing the expansion of the amount of production from national projects, including the ones brought off by MIDOR and the Egyptian Refining company. This piece of information had been transmitted by the Oil Ministry’s representative, Khaled Othman to the Egyptian parliament.

Othman also confirmed that imports are going to be carried out through the General Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries. There are no private sector companies will be allowed to import petroleum products. The companies that are to do so, are the ones owned by the General Petroleum Corporation and belong to the state.
