Since Egypt has been granted the hosting rights of 2019’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019) after winning the majority of the votes, Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, is currently drawing up plans for the upgrades needed in preparations for AFCON 2019. Madbouly ordered officials to finish renovations within the next three months since the event is scheduled to start on June 15.

Madbouly, along with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahraf Sobhi; Chairman of the Cairo stadium authority Ali Darwish and Chairman of the Arab Contractors companY, Mohsen Salah, held a meeting to discuss further plans.

Madbouly highlighted the importance of hosting the AFCON 2019 stating that this will revive Egypt’s relations with African countries since Egypt has also been granted chairmanship of the African Union 2019.
