6 Jobs We Need to Stop Taking for Granted in Egypt

Even though we have plenty of issues to nag about here in Egypt, there are treasures that we need to stop turning our backs on. Let’s agree that we’re all cosseted with services we take for granted and fail to acknowledge that they almost don’t exist anywhere else in the world but here.

Here are six jobs we need to stop taking for granted:

El Bawab

As long as they mind their own business, bawabs are your guardian angels. These people have multi-tasking genes going in their bloodstreams. They get you your grocery, wash your car, guard your building and basically deal with anyone who you don’t really feel like dealing with on a daily basis. So, give them a break, they already have enough to deal with.

Robabikya

You probably cannot find Robabikya anywhere else in the world. You can literally give away and sell whatever comes to your mind to the Robabikya guy. All you have to do is call out his name when he passes by your house.

Delivery People

We all need to take a minute and appreciate the delivery people’s presence in our lives. We are blessed with the idea that anything, literally anything can be delivered to our doorsteps — from the kiosk, restaurants, pharmacies and any place in between. Anywhere else, you take your lazy self and do everything on your own.

Gas Station Workers
via erpecnews live

You know what all people do around the world, they step out of their car to put gas all by themselves. But here, you just drive to the gas station, and all the work you have to do is wait. Not only someone is there to fill you up with gas, but also there’s an assigned person to clean your car’s windows. This is indulgence in its best form you people!

Kiosk Man

No matter what time it is, you’ll always find a kiosk man waiting to look after you.

The Guy Who Helps You Carry Your Groceries to The Car

So there you go to the supermarket all alone, only to come out with someone joining you with your journey to the car (or Uber, taxi, whatever your means of transportation is), carrying your own stuff. I don’t want to come off as cheesy, but this is kind of you cute. This is when you know you’re not alone in this world.
