Free Train Rides for Cancer Patients in Egypt

Starting today, cancer patients across the country are being given “smart cards” that allow them to book free train tickets, making it a little easier to move around the country. This is specifically due to the fact that all the big specialized cancer hospitals are located in Cairo. The smart cards are valid for an entire year and the patient can have someone accompany them for free as well.

Not only does this help facilitate easier mobility but it will also help patients book seats on air-conditioned trains. For a patient to be able to attain a smart card, the only needed documents are a medical report, a copy of the patient’s national ID and two photographs.
