A group of seven students studying Mass Communication at MIU (Misr International University) were asked to come up with topics that help make a change, for their graduation project. Their project was inspired by VeryNile, the first initiative in Egypt to take a step towards the concept of cleaning the Nile and preserving its water.

Hence, these students decided to educate Egyptians on the dangers of polluting the Nile, which they achieved by encouraging people to volunteer at cleaning events whilst also raising awareness on the diseases and health drawbacks caused by littering. Their campaign is under the name “Haras El Nile” and their slogan is “النيل شال عنا كتير”.

One of the remarkable moments of their launch event was that a 50 year old woman living in a small boat with her daughter and grandchild helped them collect plastic waste and allowed three of the students to ride with her.
