Tarek Amer Resigns From His Position As Egypt’s Central Bank Governor

According to an official statement broadcast on Egyptian television,

Tarek Amer, governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, resigned today, Wednesday.

As per the statement,

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi accepted Amer’s apology for continuing in his position

and decided to appoint him as a presidential advisor.

It’s worth noting that,

Tarek Amer took over as governor of the Central Bank of Egypt in November 2015,

before the president decided to extend his term from November 2019 to November 2023.
