Gamila El Alaily is an Arab literature icon, a one-of-a-kind writer, and the first female member of the Apollo Society’s group of artists. She was born in Mansoura, Dakahlia and was a phenomenon in her time. She wrote three volumes of poetry and published a monthly column in her own newsletter for 25 years. Her legacy is still inspiring women in the Arab world, especially writers, to fight for women’s roles in society and to continue spreading and appreciating their own feelings.

Google’s Al Alaily doodle is broadcast throughout the Middle East. Al Alaily plays an important role in Egypt’s modern art renaissance. Check Goggle’s Doodle website for more information.
